 How do I know if  I’m a descendant of RC Hill?

We’ve spent the last 15 years mapping the descendants of RC Hill. You can look for yourself on our family tree at ancestry.com. You can create your own account or request a guest login.

Who is eligible to apply for an RC Hill Scholarship to Linfield University?

The heirs of Reuben Coleman Hill are blood relatives, relatives by marriage, adopted children and their offspring and stepchildren and their offspring.

How do I establish that I am a descendant of RC Hill?

In order to apply for a RC Hill Scholarship to Linfield University you must first establish that you are an eligible heir of Reuben Coleman Hill. Proof of being an heir ensures a scholar’s eligibility to apply but does not guarantee a scholarship. Fill out our pre-application form and we will request any further family information and legal documentation required to establish your eligibility.

What about the Linfield University application?

Scholarship applicants must be accepted to Linfield University for the following fall semester and received their financial package in order to be considered for the RC Hill Scholarship. The deadline for Linfield’s application is February 1st.

When is the application due?

RC Hill Scholarship pre-applications and Linfield University applications are due by February 1st. A completed RC Hill academic application is due by March 15th. We will announce scholarship recipients on March 30th. Recipients have until April 15th to accept or reject the scholarship.  A scholarship fee is due 30 days before the start of each semester.

How are eligible students selected for scholarship?

Scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the Trustees. The Trustees take into account both merit and need in their review of applicants. Merit is established by review of SAT scores, high school or college transcripts and the essay submitted. Need is established by the FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR).

What does the scholarship pay for?

Tuition plus an allotment toward on-campus housing at Linfield University. An administrative scholarship fee is due 30 days prior to the start of each semester attended. This fee allows us to continue the work of the Trust. The Tuition Scholarship may also be applied to the nursing program, online course work and study abroad programs offered by Linfield University.

Does the scholarship cover transfer students or partial terms?


Depending upon availability, we are often able to accommodate mid-year transfer students or Summer/January term enrollment. For entrance into Linfield during other terms please see Linfield’s academic calendar.
